International Symposium African Research Matters - Envisioning African Futures in Response to ...

Date: March 15th-18th, 2022.

Venue: Saint-Louis, Senegal

Organized on the occasion of the release of the inaugural issue of the new journal Global Africa, the international symposium African Research Matters aims to foster exchanges and debates on the epistemological challenges, working conditions, political economy, social legitimacy, and the visibility of Pan-African research in the face of global challenges. Plenary sessions and panels, featuring high-level experts, will specifically focus on analyzing how the social sciences and humanities, through an interdisciplinary approach, can critically examine the continent and its various trajectories - social, political, environmental, cultural, economic, or scientific - within the context of globalization.

This symposium is co-organized by Gaston Berger University(UGB) and the Institute for Research and Development (IRD) in partnership with the Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa (CODESRIA), as part of the Global Africa project (UGB, IRD, LASDEL, UIR), supported by the French Development Agency (AFD). It is associated with "Escale des Livres", a space where publishers of books and scientific journals will present their publications.
