Sylvia Becerra, a sociologist, has been a research associate at CNRS since 2006. As a member of the Geosciences Environment Toulouse laboratory, she specializes in the study of environmental risks, particularly focusing on the habitability and sustainability conditions in energy transition (balancing resources and risks). With 17 years of interdisciplinary experience, she aims to comprehend vulnerabilities and societal responses to environmental risks, specifically in the areas of air pollution, oil, and mining. She has (co)directed the ANR SOCENV-MONOIL project (2013-2018, €863k) on the impacts of oil in Ecuador. Currently, she co-leads the ANR APIMAMA project (PI: C. Liousse LAERO) on air pollution in Abidjan (2022-2025).
