Sylvain Landry Birane FAYE is currently a Full Professor of Sociology and Anthropology at Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar (Senegal). He holds a PhD in Social and Cultural Anthropology from Victor Segalen Bordeaux 2 University and specializes in the socio-anthropology of health and the evaluative research of health policies and systems in Africa. He has extensive experience in the fight against epidemics, and also conducts research on Ebola vaccine trials, emergency response, and health risk communication. His current research focuses on the ethical and decolonial dimensions of artificial intelligence applied to healthcare. Professor Faye is the Principal Investigator of AI4-DECLIC SN “Artificial Intelligence and Hybrid Modeling for Community-Based Early Detection of Zoonotic Diseases in the Context of Climate Change in Senegal, (2023–2028)”.
