Nathanaël Assam Otya'a is a social historian from Cameroon, specializing in Pygmy indigenous peoples. Assam Otya'a holds a PhD in economic and social history from the University of Douala and is the author of Les Pygmées du Cameroun dans l'Etat-Nation : chroniques d'une colonisation (2022), several articles and book chapters, and participations in high-level scientific meetings including the Colloque international de Kinshasa in 2021. A member of the "Centre de recherches sur les dynamiques des mondes contemporains" (CERDYM), Nathanaël Assam Otya'a also conducts research on disability and gender. He took part in the First International Symposium on Gender Equity and Equality in Africa (SIEEGA) in Treichville (Côte-d'Ivoire) in 2019. He currently works as a teacher at the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Bertoua (East-Cameroon) in the Specialized Language Techniques department.
