Mame Aminata Diagne is a sociologist and anthropologist, currently a PhD candidate at LASAP, Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar. She specializes in the socio-anthropology of health, early childhood, and public policies in West Africa. Her research focuses on breast cancer, inequalities in access to healthcare, maternal and child health, nutrition, and adolescent reproductive health. She has conducted field studies in Senegal on the prevention of malnutrition during the first 1,000 days of life and has coordinated international clinical trials, including the rVSV-ZEBOV Ebola vaccine in Guinea, examining community acceptability and trust in health institutions. She has also contributed to COVID-19 research, analyzing vaccine acceptability and community responses to public health measures. Using rigorous qualitative methods—such as life stories, ethnographic observations, and institutional analysis—she produces knowledge grounded in local realities through action-research projects, advisory work for national and international institutions, and academic publications.
