Abdoul Karim Saidou is Associate Professor in Political Science at Thomas Sankara University in Burkina Faso. He holds a Bachelor of Science (Bsc) in Political Science from Ahmadu Bello University in Nigeria, a Diplôme d'études approfondies (DEA), and a Ph.D. in the same discipline from Thomas Sankara University.
Since 2022, he is the Scientific Coordinator for the Master's program in Political Science and head of the "Sociologie politique et action publique" team at the Laboratory of Law and Political Science. Additionally, Abdoul Karim Saidou has been an Associate Researcher at Abdou Moumouni University in Niger since 2022. Since 2015, he has been the Regional Coordinator for West Africa for the "Varieties of Democracy" (V-dem) project at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden.
His research focuses primarily on the State, democratization, public policies, and security in the Sahel region. His recent publications include:
