Helle Samuelsen is an Associate Professor in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. Her research focuses on medical anthropology and global health, with a particular emphasis on healthcare systems and the relationship between citizens and the state. Her work is based on over 20 years of research engagement in Africa, particularly in Burkina Faso. She is the principal investigator of the project *EMERGING EPIDEMICS: Improving Preparedness in Burkina Faso* and is the author of the book *Fragile Futures: Ambiguities of Care in Burkina Faso* (Berghahn, 2024).
