Artist born in Martinique, Élise Fitte-Duval has been living and working in Senegal for over twenty years. She graduated from the School of Visual Arts of Martinique in 1989 and from the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, specializing in photography, in 1996. In her photographic work, Élise Fitte-Duval focuses on movement in all its forms, whether it is the movement of the body or social movements. Her narrative photographic research explores themes of humanity, society, and urban life.
She was awarded the Casa África Prize for Women Photographers at the Bamako Encounters African Photography Biennial in 2011. Until 2018, Élise Fitte-Duval served as a photo editor at PANAPRESS, the Pan-African News Agency, headquartered in Dakar.
