Cheikh Abdoul Ahad Mbacké Ba, Associate Lecturer (Institute of Territorial Governance and Local Development/UCAD, Dakar, Senegal/WiSER-University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa), is also a member of the Sahel/Sahara/Mediterranean Cluster of Regions 2050 project, led by Achille Mbembe, where he focuses on the ecology of knowledge related to Sahalian water bodies. His research interests include local notions of environmental justice, the decolonization of environmental knowledge, and the ecological history of territorial governance in West Africa. He has conducted extensive research on the governance of environmental crises and climate risks related to flooding in the Senegal River basin in Senegal, analyzing the role of various forms of local and situated environmental knowledge in the emergence of endogenous resilience practices.
