Anthropologist and sociologist, Cheikh Sadibou Sakho teaches in the Department of Sociology at Gaston Berger University (UGB) in Saint-Louis. His research and teaching primarily focus on the use of nature, issues related to the green economy and change, the social challenges of energy and climate change, extractivism, as well as cross-cutting issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and gender budgeting. Dr. Sakho is also the founder of the Research Group on Environment, Energy, and Societies (GRENES) at UGB, where he explores the links between energy, society, and sustainability. He is also an active participant in public debates in Senegal, providing analyses on various contemporary socio-political phenomena.
