Catherine Baron is a Professor of Urban Planning and Geography at LEREPS-Sciences Po Toulouse, France. Her research focuses on urban governance in the Global South, particularly addressing issues of equity in access to drinking water in informal settlements in African cities. Her recent work discusses an often-overlooked aspect of water research: the relationship between water resources and services in the Global South. She applies institutionalist analysis frameworks to explore the concepts of commons and the co-production of knowledge and management rules for water. She has coordinated numerous research projects on these topics and conducted fieldwork in diverse contexts in Asia (Indonesia, Thailand) and West Africa (Burkina Faso, Niger, Senegal).
