A graduate of the École Nationale des Chartes, Adama Aly Pam is an archivist and paleographer (Class of 2000). He holds a PhD in contemporary history from Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar. He has served as a curator at the National Archives of Senegal, where he managed the modernization program for the archives of the Central Bank of West African States. He has also been an adjunct professor at the School of Librarians, Archivists, and Documentalists in Dakar and president of the Senegalese Association of Archivists.

Since 2018, Adama Aly Pam has been the Chief Archivist of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Paris, leading an ambitious project to modernize and enhance the organization's institutional memory. He is also the author of several publications on the history of archives and libraries in Africa.
