Biography
Léonard Shukuru Shemitalo is a Sociologist and lecturer-researcher in Gender, Cultures and Peace at the Institut Supérieur Pédagogique d'Uvira (ISP-Uvira), South Kivu, DR Congo. He is a PhD Candidate in Gender, Societies and Cultures at Hassan II University of Casablanca. His research focuses on gender equality in traditional peace negotiation and peacebuilding mechanisms in the African Great Lakes region. He has served as a consultant for Ghent University on peace and security dynamics in Eastern DRC, Project Manager at CEDIER on GIZ-funded programmes, and former National Coordinator of the Union of Women for the Promotion of Peace (UFPP). He is also a Junior Researcher at the Congolese Institute for Advanced Studies (ICEA-Kinshasa).
