Dr. Sékou Sala TIMBELY holds a PhD in Socio-Anthropology of Religions and a master's degree in Socio-Anthropology of Health. A lecturer-researcher in the Department of Sociology at the University of Ségou (Mali), he brings 22 years of professional experience in social action, teaching and research. His work focuses on student religious activism, insecurity linked to terrorism and jihadism, and university governance and health systems in West Africa. He is part of an international research team (Germany, Burkina Faso, Niger, Mali) working on a post-doctoral programme on religion and democracy. He is the author of several scientific articles on religiosity in university settings in Bamako and co-author of works on the social uses of the balazan tree in Ségou.
