Tour\u00e9 Mand\u00e9mory a \u00e9t\u00e9 un des initiateurs du Mois de la photo de Dakar dans les ann\u00e9es 90 et a contribu\u00e9 au d\u00e9veloppement des agences de presse priv\u00e9es. En hissant la photographie au rang de pratique artistique, il a favoris\u00e9 son entr\u00e9e dans les galeries et les mus\u00e9es.   <\/p><p>Apr\u00e8s avoir explor\u00e9 le portrait, Tour\u00e9 Mand\u00e9mory se tourne vers le documentaire en privil\u00e9giant la recherche et l\u2019analyse des soci\u00e9t\u00e9s africaines. C\u00e9l\u00e8bre pour ses vues en contre-plong\u00e9e et ses instantan\u00e9s, ses th\u00e9matiques sont de v\u00e9ritables manifestes esth\u00e9tiques et socioculturels. Cette expression d\u00e9signe la prodigieuse ru\u00e9e de jeunes S\u00e9n\u00e9galais vers les \u00eeles Canaries \u00e0 bord de pirogues. J\u2019\u00e9tais \u00e0 Thiaroye en 2006, au moment o\u00f9 les avions d\u2019Air Europa larguaient sur le tarmac de l\u2019a\u00e9roport de Saint-Louis 6 000 clandestins refoul\u00e9s d\u2019Espagne. Les rapatri\u00e9s, sous le choc, avaient du mal \u00e0 r\u00e9aliser ce qui leur arrivait. Deux semaines pass\u00e9es \u00e0 Thiaroye aideront peut-\u00eatre \u00e0 expliciter cette trag\u00e9die qui d\u00e9cime la jeunesse du S\u00e9n\u00e9gal. Thiaroye-sur-Mer attend ses 200 fils partis vers les \u00eeles Canaries, et qui ne sont pas revenus. Personne dans ce vieux village du xviiie si\u00e8cle ne parie sur leur mort.   <\/p>\n<p>Le d\u00e9cor n\u2019a pas chang\u00e9. J\u2019entrais toujours dans Thiaroye-sur-Mer par la porte du cin\u00e9ma, il y avait l\u00e0 une salle obscure o\u00f9 les jeunes venaient \u00e9vacuer leur mal \u00eatre. Le Cdeps1 a pris la place du cin\u00e9ma, que les autorit\u00e9s sans imagination ont d\u00e9cid\u00e9 de fermer. Ils pr\u00e9paraient sans le savoir le lit de l\u2019\u00e9migration clandestine. Que faire lorsqu\u2019on est priv\u00e9 de fictions filmiques sinon partir ? Le bel immeuble du Cdeps n\u2019est certainement pas attractif. Il n\u2019y a personne. Pour calmer ma col\u00e8re, je respire \u00e0 fond l\u2019air marin du village, ar\u00f4mes de poissons et de l\u00e9gumes frais. Le formidable march\u00e9 de Thiaroye-sur-Mer est \u00e0 quelques m\u00e8tres. On devine la mer au bout de la grande rue qui finit en ruelle \u00e9troite et sablonneuse.          <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-86e7fa2 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"86e7fa2\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tLes rails sur lesquels roulent les rares trains des Industries chimiques du S\u00e9n\u00e9gal (ICS), dont les activit\u00e9s ont drastiquement baiss\u00e9, ne payent pas de mine. Les gamins, cens\u00e9s \u00eatre \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9cole ou \u00e0 la maison, farfouillent dans les ordures. Ils semblent heureux de barboter dans les eaux sales et naus\u00e9abondes, restes des derni\u00e8res inondations qui l\u00e8chent les rails et coulent vers les maisons voisines. Le pr\u00e9sident Wade qui adore la banlieue gagnerait \u00e0 venir voir. La longue balade dans le village de p\u00eacheurs me convainc d\u2019une chose : Thiaroye a mal \u00e0 son environnement. Avanc\u00e9e de la mer, pollution de la plage, mini mar\u00e9es noires, usine de pesticides de la Senchim, pipelines de la Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 africaine de raffinage (SAR), pillage des ressources halieutiques. Il y a foule dans les rues et les maisons. Thiaroye n\u2019\u00e9chappe pas \u00e0 la \u00ab soukisation \u00bb honteuse de Dakar. La population augmente \u00e0 vive allure. 50 000 \u00e2mes, me dit-on. Je pense \u00e0 l\u2019ancien chiffre : 30 000. Sans doute la forte natalit\u00e9. Le p\u00eacheur se marie et fait des enfants, jeune. Son travail, p\u00e9nible, \u00e9puise vite. Il part \u00e0 la retraite \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e2ge o\u00f9 le footballeur professionnel range ses godasses. Peut-\u00eatre une mani\u00e8re jouissive de renouveler la force de travail qui doit nourrir la famille ? Sans doute \u00e9galement l\u2019arriv\u00e9e massive de paysans chass\u00e9s par la mis\u00e8re, qui s\u2019arr\u00eatent, intimid\u00e9s, aux portes de la capitale. Je me prom\u00e8ne dans les ruelles \u00e9troites et sablonneuses qui attendent la construction du lotissement et la restructuration pour s\u2019\u00e9largir \u2013 r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement annonc\u00e9es et toujours diff\u00e9r\u00e9es. Les maisons sont toujours agglutin\u00e9es les unes aux autres. La fr\u00e9n\u00e9sie de la construction de ces derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es a gagn\u00e9 Thiaroye-sur-Mer. Les chambrettes, construites n\u2019importe comment dans les cours des maisons qui n\u2019en sont plus, sont incroyables. On construit comme on peut, sans aucun respect des normes \u00e9tablies. Un groupe de jeunes, style rappeurs am\u00e9ricains. Ils font du th\u00e9. Arona et Daouda connaissent bien le photographe que je cherche. \u00ab Chaque jour, il est l\u00e0 \u00bb. On parle de Thiaroye-sur-Mer, du \u00ab Mb\u00ebkk mi \u00bb. Ils sont ch\u00f4meurs. Le mot sort immense de leur bouche. Ils doivent douter que je comprenne ce que le mot signifie. Les tabliers et autres \u00ab vendeurs par terre \u00bb de produits pour N\u00e8gres made in China obstruent le passage. La magie de la mer op\u00e8re toujours. Le bleu de la mer, le soleil encore doux \u00e0 9 heures. Des centaines de pirogues aux couleurs vives sont align\u00e9es sur la plage jonch\u00e9e d\u2019immondices et de restes de poissons. Les fi\u00e8res pirogues attendent au soleil le retour des poissons. La p\u00eache ne nourrit plus son homme. Au large, un bateau. Peut-\u00eatre un de ces multiples pr\u00e9dateurs qui pillent impun\u00e9ment les c\u00f4tes s\u00e9n\u00e9galaises, hier riches en produits de la mer.        <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c0a1a43 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"c0a1a43\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Je n\u2019ai pas \u00e0 attendre longtemps Mand\u00e9mory. Un abri de fortune en bois de pirogue, sur la plage, o\u00f9 les habitants du coin surveillent la mer d\u2019un \u0153il, et causent de choses et d\u2019autres. Le P\u00ebnc, chaque quartier en a un, c\u2019est le lieu de socialisation et d\u2019\u00e9change par excellence. L\u2019habitant et l\u2019\u00e9tranger de passage viennent y porter et prendre des nouvelles. Les habitu\u00e9s du P\u00ebnc sont tous victimes, d\u2019une mani\u00e8re ou d\u2019une autre, de l\u2019\u00e9migration clandestine. \u00c9migr\u00e9s clandestins rapatri\u00e9s, p\u00e8res et m\u00e8res qui attendent le retour hypoth\u00e9tique de leur enfant parti en Espagne, \u00e9pouses qui r\u00eavent chaque nuit d\u2019un \u00e9poux \u00ab disparu \u00bb sur les chemins d\u2019Espagne, jeunes qui veulent tenter l\u2019aventure, chacun a son histoire du \u00ab Mb\u00ebkk mi \u00bb. Tour\u00e9 Mand\u00e9mory fait partie de la g\u00e9n\u00e9ration de photographes qui a \u00e9merg\u00e9 dans les ann\u00e9es 80, \u00e0 une \u00e9poque o\u00f9 le portrait en studio a c\u00e9d\u00e9 sa place \u00e0 la photographie documentaire et au reportage. Le d\u00e9veloppement des m\u00e9dias libres et l\u2019essoufflement des agences nationales de photographie ont permis l\u2019essor de photographes professionnels ind\u00e9pendants qui dynamiseront la fili\u00e8re. Tour\u00e9 Mand\u00e9mory a \u00e9t\u00e9 un des initiateurs du Mois de la photo de Dakar dans les ann\u00e9es 90 et a contribu\u00e9 au d\u00e9veloppement des agences de presse priv\u00e9es. En hissant la photographie au rang de pratique artistique, il a favoris\u00e9 son entr\u00e9e dans les galeries et les mus\u00e9es. Apr\u00e8s avoir explor\u00e9 le portrait, Tour\u00e9 Mand\u00e9mory se tourne vers le documentaire en privil\u00e9giant la recherche et l\u2019analyse des soci\u00e9t\u00e9s africaines. C\u00e9l\u00e8bre pour ses vues en contre-plong\u00e9e et ses instantan\u00e9s, ses th\u00e9matiques sont de v\u00e9ritables manifestes esth\u00e9tiques et socioculturels. Les s\u00e9ries sur les capitales d\u2019Afrique, les populations du fleuve Niger, le ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne du rap et les cultures urbaines \u00e0 Dakar, ou les minorit\u00e9s ethniques du S\u00e9n\u00e9gal ont permis de casser l\u2019image d\u00e9su\u00e8te d\u2019un continent arrim\u00e9 \u00e0 des traditions obsol\u00e8tes, ravag\u00e9 par la s\u00e9cheresse, la famine et l\u2019autoritarisme. N\u2019Gon\u00e9 Fall Boubacar Tour\u00e9 Mand\u00e9mory, chasseur imp\u00e9nitent d\u2019images, effectue depuis deux mois un travail sur l\u2019\u00e9migration clandestine \u00e0 Thiaroye-sur-Mer. Le village de p\u00eacheurs de la banlieue dakaroise, devenu commune en 1996, est durement affect\u00e9 par le ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne du \u00ab Mb\u00ebkk mi \u00bb. Cette expression d\u00e9signe la prodigieuse ru\u00e9e de jeunes S\u00e9n\u00e9galais vers les \u00eeles Canaries \u00e0 bord de pirogues. J\u2019\u00e9tais \u00e0 Thiaroye en 2006, au moment o\u00f9 les avions d\u2019Air Europa larguaient sur le tarmac de l\u2019a\u00e9roport de Saint-Louis 6 000 clandestins refoul\u00e9s d\u2019Espagne. Les rapatri\u00e9s, sous le choc, avaient du mal \u00e0 r\u00e9aliser ce qui leur arrivait. Pour ma part, je ne comprenais pas la folie du \u00ab Mb\u00ebkk mi \u00bb. J\u2019acceptais l\u2019invitation de Mand\u00e9mory \u00e0 le suivre, pour \u00e9crire ce que la photo seule ne peut d\u00e9crire, pour y voir clair. Deux semaines pass\u00e9es \u00e0 Thiaroye aideront peut-\u00eatre \u00e0 expliciter cette trag\u00e9die qui d\u00e9cime la jeunesse du S\u00e9n\u00e9gal. Thiaroye-sur-Mer attend ses 200 fils partis vers les \u00eeles Canaries, et qui ne sont pas revenus. Personne dans ce vieux village du xviiie si\u00e8cle ne parie sur leur mort. Le d\u00e9cor n\u2019a pas chang\u00e9. J\u2019entrais toujours dans Thiaroye-sur-Mer par la porte du cin\u00e9ma, il y avait l\u00e0 une salle obscure o\u00f9 les jeunes venaient \u00e9vacuer leur mal \u00eatre. Le Cdeps1 a pris la place du cin\u00e9ma, que les autorit\u00e9s sans imagination ont d\u00e9cid\u00e9 de fermer. Ils pr\u00e9paraient sans le savoir le lit de l\u2019\u00e9migration clandestine. Que faire lorsqu\u2019on est priv\u00e9 de fictions filmiques sinon partir ? Le bel immeuble du Cdeps n\u2019est certainement pas attractif. Il n\u2019y a personne. Pour calmer ma col\u00e8re, je respire \u00e0 fond l\u2019air marin du village, ar\u00f4mes de poissons et de l\u00e9gumes frais. Le formidable march\u00e9 de Thiaroye-sur-Mer est \u00e0 quelques m\u00e8tres. On devine la mer au bout de la grande rue qui finit en ruelle \u00e9troite et sablonneuse. Les rails sur lesquels roulent les rares trains des Industries chimiques du S\u00e9n\u00e9gal (ICS), dont les activit\u00e9s ont drastiquement baiss\u00e9, ne payent pas de mine. Les gamins, cens\u00e9s \u00eatre \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9cole ou \u00e0 la maison, farfouillent dans les ordures. Ils semblent heureux de barboter dans les eaux sales et naus\u00e9abondes, restes des derni\u00e8res inondations qui l\u00e8chent les rails et coulent vers les maisons voisines. Le pr\u00e9sident Wade qui adore la banlieue gagnerait \u00e0 venir voir. La longue balade dans le village de p\u00eacheurs me convainc d\u2019une chose : Thiaroye a mal \u00e0 son environnement. Avanc\u00e9e de la mer, pollution de la plage, mini mar\u00e9es noires, usine de pesticides de la Senchim, pipelines de la Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 africaine de raffinage (SAR), pillage des ressources halieutiques. Il y a foule dans les rues et les maisons. Thiaroye n\u2019\u00e9chappe pas \u00e0 la \u00ab soukisation \u00bb honteuse de Dakar. La population augmente \u00e0 vive allure. 50 000 \u00e2mes, me dit-on. Je pense \u00e0 l\u2019ancien chiffre : 30 000. Sans doute la forte natalit\u00e9. Le p\u00eacheur se marie et fait des enfants, jeune. Son travail, p\u00e9nible, \u00e9puise vite. Il part \u00e0 la retraite \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e2ge o\u00f9 le footballeur professionnel range ses godasses. Peut-\u00eatre une mani\u00e8re jouissive de renouveler la force de travail qui doit nourrir la famille ? Sans doute \u00e9galement l\u2019arriv\u00e9e massive de paysans chass\u00e9s par la mis\u00e8re, qui s\u2019arr\u00eatent, intimid\u00e9s, aux portes de la capitale. Je me prom\u00e8ne dans les ruelles \u00e9troites et sablonneuses qui attendent la construction du lotissement et la restructuration pour s\u2019\u00e9largir \u2013 r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement annonc\u00e9es et toujours diff\u00e9r\u00e9es. Les maisons sont toujours agglutin\u00e9es les unes aux autres. La fr\u00e9n\u00e9sie de la construction de ces derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es a gagn\u00e9 Thiaroye-sur-Mer. Les chambrettes, construites n\u2019importe comment dans les cours des maisons qui n\u2019en sont plus, sont incroyables. On construit comme on peut, sans aucun respect des normes \u00e9tablies. Un groupe de jeunes, style rappeurs am\u00e9ricains. Ils font du th\u00e9. Arona et Daouda connaissent bien le photographe que je cherche. \u00ab Chaque jour, il est l\u00e0 \u00bb. On parle de Thiaroye-sur-Mer, du \u00ab Mb\u00ebkk mi \u00bb. Ils sont ch\u00f4meurs. Le mot sort immense de leur bouche. Ils doivent douter que je comprenne ce que le mot signifie. L\u2019absence de perspective, la mort de l\u2019espoir. La pauvret\u00e9 pour tout dire. M\u00eame drap\u00e9e de dignit\u00e9, je la vois et la sens. Les tabliers et autres \u00ab vendeurs par terre \u00bb de produits pour N\u00e8gres made in China obstruent le passage. Le Thiaroye d\u2019hier qui inondait les march\u00e9s dakarois de poissons et de l\u00e9gumes, jusqu\u2019\u00e0 faire dire \u00ab viande de Thiaroye \u00bb pour nommer le chou, n\u2019est plus. \u00c0 Thiaroye-sur-Mer, tous les chemins m\u00e8nent \u00e0 la plage. La magie de la mer op\u00e8re toujours. Le bleu de la mer, le
