Michel Cahen, né à Strabourg (France) en 1953 est historien. Il est spécialiste de la colonisation portugaise en Afrique et analyste politique des actuels Pays africains de langue officielle portugaise (PALOP). Mais à partir de ce "terrain" lusophone, il s'est intéressé aussi à des thématiques et réflexions conceptuelles plus vastes sur les liens entre ethnicité et démocratie, fascisme et colonialisme, marxisme et nationalisme, subalternité et créolité, etc. Depuis une vingtaine d'années, il s'est intéressé, de manière critique, aux approches postcolonial et décoloniale. Michel Cahen, born in Strasbourg (France) in 1953, is a historian. He is a specialist in Portuguese colonization in Africa and a political analyst of the current Portuguese-speaking African countries (PALOP). But from this Lusophone “terrain”, he has expanded his research interest to broader conceptual themes, including the relationships between ethnicity and democracy, fascism and colonialism, Marxism and nationalism, subalternity and creolization, among others. Over the past two decades, he has critically engaged with postcolonial and decolonial approaches.
